Vancouver, BC – October 4, 2024 – The Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC) is excited to announce the upcoming release of “A Clean Energy Vision for B.C.: Powering Reconciliation and Economic Growth,” outlining our vision for a low-carbon future in British Columbia. This document will focus on how clean energy investment, economic opportunities, and reliable, affordable energy are crucial to achieving the province’s decarbonization goals while fostering sustainable growth for generations to come.
Central to this vision is the role of economic reconciliation through clean energy development. CEBC recognizes that First Nations are at the forefront of leading clean energy projects that benefit their communities and contribute to BC’s low-carbon future. The upcoming document will emphasize the importance of Indigenous-owned and partnered clean energy projects, ensuring that First Nations are both participants and beneficiaries in BC’s energy transition. By supporting partnerships between First Nations, industry, and government, CEBC aims to drive meaningful change that respects Indigenous rights, aligns with the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and delivers shared economic benefits across the province.
“We are at a critical juncture for B.C.’s energy future, and CEBC is committed to working with all governments and stakeholders to advance policies that prioritize clean energy solutions,” said Kwatuuma Cole Sayers, Executive Director of CEBC. “Our forthcoming document will serve as a blueprint for collaboration, showcasing how government, industry, and First Nations can work together to build a cleaner, more prosperous future.”
