Vancouver, BC – October 29, 2024 – Following the 2024 BC General Election, the Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC) commends all parties for running campaigns that engaged British Columbians across the province, resulting in an historic voter turnout. As a non-partisan association advocating for the growth of BC’s clean energy sector, we look forward to collaborating with the new provincial government on the critical policy and regulatory actions required to accelerate BC’s transition to an equitable clean energy future.

As part of our work to advance reconciliation and electrification, CEBC is excited for the upcoming release of our vision document: “A Clean Energy Vision for British Columbia: Powering Reconciliation and Economic Growth.” This document will guide our work with the new provincial government and propose recommendations to grow a sustainable economy that works for all British Columbians by accelerating reconciliation and affordable clean energy projects.

Clean electricity is the foundation for sustainable economic growth across all sectors in BC. From transportation, to mining, to manufacturing – more utilities and customers are choosing to buy clean energy from low-cost, proven renewable sources like wind and solar, which increasingly feature battery energy storage. As BC’s competitive advantage in the global economy, clean electricity will not only power our industries and communities, but also provide sustainable jobs and opportunities for future generations.

BC’s first call for clean power in over 15 years received a strong response from industry and marks the start of a multi-decade journey of clean energy development. CEBC is committed to working with the new Government of BC, all MLAs, First Nations, municipalities, and industry to shape this journey and advance solutions that lower costs, reduce emissions, and ensure all British Columbians benefit from the transition to a low-carbon economy.
