Section Head, Fish + Fish Habitat Protection Program, Fisheries and Oceans Canada

In my job as Section Head within the Fish and Fish Habitat Program at Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), I am responsible for management of regional services including DFO’s One Window encompassing Request for Reviews, Applications for Authorization, Species at Risk Act permits applications, and ministerial correspondence. I also provide regulatory support for other units within DFO including assessing offsetting/compensation site performance, and assisting in the development of regional and national guidelines and standards for the protection of fish and fish habitat.
Prior to joining DFO, I worked as a Principal and Senior Environmental Scientist at WSP/Golder Associates Ltd. for 18 years, where I was responsible for the technical implementation and management of medium to high complexity multidisciplinary environmental projects. The range of projects I was responsible for managing included site investigation and remediation of contaminated waterlots, ecological risk assessments, environmental effects monitoring and assessments, environmental permitting and monitoring, terrestrial and aquatic ecological studies, public engagement and First Nation consultation, risk assessment, and risk management in BC and Ontario.
