Kwatuuma Cole Sayers, Executive Director, Clean Energy Association of BC (CEBC):

“As the leading voice for clean energy in B.C., CEBC welcomes today’s launch of BC Hydro’s Capacity RFEOI. This is a forward-looking step that will help B.C.’s grid remain clean and resilient for generations to come. It is also a key part of the new Clean Power Action Plan, which the Province announced in partnership with CEBC last month.

This initiative comes at a critical time. As electricity demand grows across all sectors of B.C.’s economy, and from neighbouring jurisdictions, capacity solutions such as pumped storage, geothermal, and batteries will be essential to reliability and energy security. These technologies have been proven around the globe and have strong potential here in B.C. In addition to having some of the most plentiful pumped storage and geothermal resources in North America, our province is home to world-class expertise in manufacturing cutting-edge battery energy storage systems.

Our members have deep experience delivering clean energy projects and are committed to advancing reconciliation and long-term economic growth. This RFEOI creates important opportunities for First Nations leadership, equity participation, and meaningful collaboration across the sector.”
