“The Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC) welcomes today’s decision by the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) to accept all ten electricity purchase agreements from BC Hydro’s 2024 Call for Power. These agreements will deliver nearly 4,830 gigawatt hours of new clean energy each year at an average price of $74 per megawatt hour and represent projects with a historic amount of First Nations equity ranging from 49 to 51 percent. This decision is an important step forward for reconciliation, economic opportunity, and long-term energy security for our province.
CEBC represents both First Nations and industry proponents from the 2024 Call for Power. We congratulate these members, who are advancing world-class projects with First Nations owners at the decision-making table and local benefits as a top priority. These projects embody CEBC’s commitment to ensuring clean energy development in British Columbia grows in partnership with First Nations, strengthens communities across the province, drives affordability, and reflects the values of the Nations guiding them. Together, we are building the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable future for generations to come.”
