Vancouver, BC – November 19, 2024 – The Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC) recognizes the exceptional leadership and contributions of the Honourable Josie Osborne during her tenure as Minister of Energy, Mines, and Low-Carbon Innovation. As Minister Osborne transitions to her new role as Minister of Health, CEBC extends its heartfelt gratitude for her unwavering commitment to advancing British Columbia’s clean energy sector.
Under Minister Osborne’s leadership, British Columbia achieved historic advancements in clean energy procurement and investment. Her thoughtful and collaborative approach to policymaking has left a lasting legacy, positioning the province as a leader in clean energy innovation and sustainability. Minister Osborne’s dedication to reconciliation and sustainable economic growth has greatly benefited communities, industries, and the clean energy sector across the province.
“Minister Osborne’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping a cleaner, more sustainable future for British Columbia,” said Kwatuuma Cole Sayers, Executive Director of CEBC. “Her efforts have set the stage for a multi-decade journey of clean energy development, and we are deeply grateful for her contributions. We extend our best wishes as she takes on her new role as Minister of Health.”
Looking forward, CEBC is eager to collaborate with the Honourable Adrian Dix, the newly appointed Minister of Energy and Climate Solutions, as he leads this pivotal new ministry. CEBC also looks forward to working closely with the Honourable Christine Boyle, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, the Honourable Randene Neill, Minister of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship, Honourable Tamara Davidson, Minister of Environment and Parks, and all MLAs representing communities across British Columbia. Together, these leaders will play critical roles in advancing reconciliation, protecting B.C.’s natural resources, and driving the transition to a strong low-carbon economy.
As announced in October, CEBC will soon release its vision document, “A Clean Energy Vision for British Columbia: Powering Reconciliation and Economic Growth,” which outlines a pathway for achieving an affordable and low-carbon future in British Columbia. The document emphasizes the importance of clean energy investment, economic reconciliation, and Indigenous-led and partnered projects that benefit communities while fostering sustainable growth.
“As we embark on this next chapter, CEBC is ready to bring forward actionable recommendations and work in partnership with the provincial government to ensure that clean electricity remains the foundation for British Columbia’s sustainable economic future,” added Sayers.
