Today, April 3, 2024, BC Hydro has announced that they have issued the 2024 Call for Power.

The deadline for RFP submissions is September 16, 2024.

Call documents

This Call for Power follows the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) Competitive Electricity Acquisition Process (CEAP).

BC Hydro reminds potential proponents of the important first deadline of April 19 to submit their interconnection request as part of the CEAP. Failure to meet the April 19 deadline will make potential proponents ineligible to participate in the RFP.

Other important deadlines are found in the RFP documents and on their website.

BC Hydro engaged extensively with First Nations and the independent power producer industry on the design of the RFP. Based on this engagement, the RFP includes a First Nations economic participation model, including a requirement that projects bidding into the Call must have a minimum of 25% equity ownership held by one or more First Nations in whose territory the project is located.

BC Hydro strongly encourages potential proponents to register for the RFP to receive RFP updates and responses to RFP-related inquiries. As the competitive energy procurement process has now been entered, only registered proponents and First Nations will receive updates, including invitations to upcoming information sessions.

BC Hydro also posted the 2024 Call for Power Phase 2 Engagement Report.
