Awards

As in years past, GENERATE will include an Awards Presentation to acknowledge individuals and communities making great strides in the clean energy realm.

Four Award Categories:

Environmental Stewardship & Community Improvement Award 

This award recognizes exceptional accomplishments on the part of individuals or companies in contributing to environmental stewardship, sustainable development, and community improvement. 

Examples of nomination qualifications include: 

  1. Designing community facilities to minimize environmental impact 
  1. Designing environmental or community programs 
  1. Promotion of/involvement in achieving community goals 

Anitra Paris Female Youth Leadership Award 

This award recognizes excellence by a female youth living in BC who demonstrates leadership in the protection of the environment, and a drive to create a better world for people and nature. Applicants must be 30 years of age or younger, and will be assessed based on their commitment to the following criteria: 

  1. Female youth leadership 
  1. Climate advocacy (emissions related) 
  1. Initiatives to create a better world 
  1. Collaboration and connection (of ideas and people) 

Project Excellence Award 

This award recognizes excellence in project development, construction, or operations. Available to operating companies only, this award also recognizes the value of teamwork in project execution. The awards committee will measure excellence based on the quality of the accomplishment, ability to meet budget, schedule, and performance criteria. Innovation can contribute to successful project execution but is not essential criteria for this award. 

Community of the Year Award 

This award recognizes excellence by a community engaged in the development of clean energy in British Columbia. The award acknowledges excellence in all aspects of community engagement, including education, awareness, and involvement in a clean energy project.

  1. Enter the requested information, including a short nominee biography and reason for nomination. 
  1. Save the completed form as a pdf and send the file to [email protected]. 

$2,000.00 Scholarship Opportunity

Ecofish Research is once again generously offering a deserving grade 12 student a $2,000.00 scholarship at GENERATE!

Eligible contestants must be graduating from grade 12 in 2024 and pursuing a post-secondary education in a subject related to clean energy.

Two components are required to apply: a 1-2 page essay answering this question, “Why is clean energy important to me as a young person in BC?”  and a reference letter.

In the essay, please cite relevant experience with school projects or volunteer/community work and indicate any career or academic aspirations related to clean energy. Be sure to list the post-secondary institutions you have applied to, as well as any acceptances. The reference letter could be from a teacher, employer, community representative, or coach and it should speak to your character and work habits.

Deadline to apply: April 22nd

The winner will be notified early May and presented the scholarship at GENERATE2024 on May 24th.

Student Poster Competition

Clean Energy BC is seeking student applications for a poster board competition for the annual Generate 2024 conference on May 23rd and 24th, 2024.  

 Students have a chance to win a $500.00 prize. 

Students will present their research in a poster board format during the conference to delegates and judges. Poster boards will be set up at various locations on the conference level of the hotel. There are not any formal presentations. Students are asked to be present by their posters, before sessions and during breaks, to answer questions from delegates and judges.
